The burial of the mother of Chief Obi Iyiegbu,Okpataozuora na Oba, successful businessman, showbiz impresario and the Chairman of Cubana Empire has once again put the Igbo people in general and Anambra in particular on the spot and in the map, lending more credence to the assertions that Anambra people not only knows how to make money ,they also ,as the igbos would say know how to “eat money”
The social media frenzy that captured the preparations and the event proper has also shown the hypocrisy of our society and our pretense to false modesty and fake morality especially when it comes to doing what is seen as normal in other place. 🇳🇬.Depending on who is telling the story,to some, the Cubana burial activities was too lavish,to others ,what else should we do with money if not to spend it ,to others, why didn’t he set up an industry? Who knows, even the herdsmen that made a “killing” from selling almost 300 +cows in one weekend tax free transaction may even also be nursing their own “grudges “ about how Igbo people waste money lavishly 🤣🤣🤣🤣onye na nke ya. However, you cannot tell anyone how to spend his 💰 money o,is it your money ?😳
Any socialite in Lagos (headquarter of all parties and oringo things in the whole of Africa)will tell you that all manner of Cubana -like parties takes place most weekends in Lagos and some other parts of the southwest where you see all manner of social and economic intimidations and opulent living,it’s a “normal” thing, the difference here now,is that the Cubana ceremony took place in Oba,Oba kwa, where’s that ? Maybe,if Cubana party had happened in Lagos, maybe,it would have gotten positive reviews totally, but,no,it happened in Anambra, the famed land of billionaires in Nigeria ……,bedlam, biko, where’s Oba,some may even ask ignorantly or arrogantly 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My opinion is that “ego amaka “,money is good, but, the value of. Money lies in its application, not its acquisition ,aya ata nu ego ata ? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣money gives confidence, money is what money can buy😳money gives power, money gives happiness, everything depends on its application. When a man of style and exposure like Obi Iyiegbu makes money and becomes rich, the difference is 7up,he spends stylishly.A lot of people are very rich and yet does not know how to apply their wealth to do things that pleases their soul,so,it is not money in itself that is the problem ,it is the application and wisdom to spend. When Shakespeare wrote about the “ethos” of money;the power of money to do every and anything,he. posited that “when money goes before all way do lie open”.Money is powerful, money is good ,stop listening to naysayers, biko.money attract powerful friends to you, money buys loyalty, imagine one person bringing 46 cows to honor his former boss during his mother’s funeral…….he may not have bought the cows himself,he may have simply gathered 46 of his “boys” (chairmanship is in levels, every chairman has his own chairman too)and instructed them to “escort him” to his Oga mama’s burial in Oba and the rest is history ,Anambra di egwu 💪
All the people “condemning” Obi Cubana for his “lavishness” wallow in hypocrisy, poverty induced frustrations and jealousy, they will do “worst” than him if they are in his shoes, they secretly envy him for living their “ideal” lifestyle 🤣🤣🤣Poor people complain about rich people and how they “spend” their money, but, when they too become rich ,they do worst things 😳nobody should pray to experience poverty, leave the Bible out of this.you can create a heaven in this world when you’re rich, ask Oyibo people ,uwa di imilimious, travel and see, tell ya landlord 😳
In this same country, serving government officials organize ceremonies, burials and weddings for their loved ones and all airports are filled with private jets as people fall over themselves attending ceremonies or occasions in some obscure villages and everybody is ok with it,but, not a private Igbo businessman who built his business and goodwill that enables him to host a grand ceremony in honor of his late mum as he deemed fit,Nigerians ,una own too bad o😳someone, was telling me last night that EFCC will soon investigate that “man”😳,so in our new Nigeria ,it’s now a crime to be rich eeh kwa?poverty is bad sha,but poverty of the mind is worse, government induced poverty is evil………biko, say no to any government that advertises poverty ,the essence of governance is to spread prosperity…..all stable countries in the. World have one thing in common, they create new millionaires every year …..some say it’s “bad. Money”,biko, which one is good money ?💰🤣🤣🤣 money is money o,either you have it or you don’t have it,stop hating …….
Infact,Anambra state government should have participated actively in the Cubana carnival this weekend by providing security and logistics because of its economic implications and benefits to the state. The influx of people from all over the country into Oba heralds a lot of economic activities for Oba and its environs even up to Imo,Abia and Enugu states.Hotels will be fully booked, direct, indirect and associated services will boom all over Oba,artistes will perform,Nollywood stars will be everywhere, even beggars, flutists, food vendors ,local musicians will be everywhere making a living this weekend, not forgetting “ndi Otimkpu “(praise singers) “Richmen will “spray” money ,poor people will “pick” a lot of money this weekend, hawkers will sell fire ,biko, anyhow the economy of Anambra state and environs will be uplifted this weekend.Ceremonies that bring this type of economic activities for a state must be a positive one.Burial ceremonies have created a new and emerging economy in the southeast.Any how, people in the village will benefit,a buoyant economy reduces crime .
Psychologically,Anambra people in particular and Igbo people in general, aka “Ndi dot in a circle”will be beating their chest and demanding respect that “anyi so na Ife ana eme 🤣🤣🤣🤣for pulling the focus of the whole country to Oba this weekend, what is bad in that ?😳some may even be visiting Anambra for the first time ever this weekend 🤣🤣🤣is that not tourism?
One of my big ogas ,an oil and gas sector ,a successful business and money man buried his dad some years back in a riverine community in Anambra and drew all the oil and sector to his place, including his governor friend who came with fellow governors, doings nwelu levels ,the whole village erupted with economic activities till after the ceremonies, also ,few yes ago,an Anambra born senior management staff of one of the IOCs buried his mum near my village and flooded the burial with his Oyibo colleagues who arrived in choppers ,a secondary school field was “cleared” for take off and landing of helicopters,Ife melu that day, some villagers saw helicopter live for the first time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Biko, let us pray to have good children who will bury us like Obi Cubana did for his mum….stop hating, ego amaka………do your thing, the world will adjust 🤣
For this one,Chief Obi iyiegbu brought it home 💪
