An eyewitness who was at the scene of the Incident and sent a report to Hush Gist confirmed to us that the incident was allegedly started by some Muslims in the area.

According to him, the incident started with an Okada rider who was carrying a woman. The Okada rider accidentally crashed the woman into a moving truck which smashed her head and she died.

The Muslims around insisted that the truck (which crushed the woman) which was allegedly carrying goods belonging to an Igbo man would be set ablaze.

The Igbos insisted that if anything should be set ablaze, it should be the Okada that was carrying the woman.

These arguments later escalated and the Igbos chased them away. While the arguments was on, some of the Muslim boys found their way through the back of the market and set it on fire, the eyewitness said
