Anambra 2021: Valentine Ozigbo Is Not Affected By The INEC’S Deadline.
A lot of confusion and tension has been created in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP especially given the different increasing court cases among the different fractions in the party.
Recall, that when the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC published the list of candidates for the Anambra 2021 Governship Election, PDPs name was omitted; no candidates name was published under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Many have rumored that the People’s Democratic Party have been ejected from the Anambra 2021 Governship Race. Also, according to INEC’s timetable, Friday 30th July is slated as the deadline for withdrawal and substitution of names of candidates by political party.
Recall that just recently, Chris Uba, the fractional candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP had also submitted his name to INEC along with one Valentine Maduaburochukwu Ozigboh as running mate under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP along with a court judgement from High Court, Awka
To clear the air and further reduce the growing tension among party faithfuls, Hon. Bar. Valentine Ayika, a Former Member Representing Njikoka in Anambra State House of Assembly and Former Aspirant, House of Representatives for Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha Constituency has taken to his Facebook page to explain the situation.
According to him, the name of Valentine Ozigbo is not in anyway affected by INEC schedule as his name has long been submitted to INEC. He stated this:
“For avoidance of doubt and for the records, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, the PDP candidate for Anambra 2021 governorship election is not in any way affected by the scheduled event of Friday, 30th July 2021.
The said withdrawal and substitution are for those who secretly are candidates of political parties other than the ones they are known with. That is those who filled the names of their sisters or apologists or stooges to beat the INEC deadline on submission of names on the 9th of July 2021. They now have up till 30th of this month to withdraw those fictitious names and put their own names.
Mr. Ozigbos name was submitted since on 2nd July 2021 according to section 31 of the Electoral Act 2010 and by section 33 of the Electoral Act 2010 a name submitted to INEC by a political party can only be changed or removed under 3 conditions, voluntarily by the candidate, death or court order.
Even the court order can only become effective if a political party forwards a name to INEC.
So my people there is no cause for alarm for in God we trust.
