As the battle for the 2021 Anambra State Governship position continues, INEC has today July 16, 2021, released the names of qualified candidates for the Novermber 6 Governorship Election. This list had omitted the name of PDP and did not publish the name of any candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
This has caused confusion among paty faithfuls of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Addressing the issue, the PDP South East Zone in a Press Release signed by Augustine Elochukwu Okeke, Zonal Publicity Secretary (South East Zonal Caretaker Committee), assures teaming supporters that the exclusion of PDP Candidate’s name is procedural. According to him;
“the PDP South East Zone, wishes to reassure our teeming supporters and the general public, that the non-inclusion of the name of PDP’s candidate in the list by INEC is procedural and does not imply that PDP will not participate in the coming election.”
To explain further, he added that;
“One would recall that faced with multiple litigations during the Imo North Senatorial bye-election, INEC took a similar stance by not including a candidate’s name for the All Progressive Congress in the list.
He appreciated the concerns shown by Nigerians and their expression of concerns in the exclusion of PDP for the Anambra Governorship Race. As according to him,
“it is a testament to the acceptance of PDP as the party that Nigerians and Anambra people implicitly and absolutely trust to deliver good governance for Anambra people.”
