
Archbishop of Lagos Reacts To Catholic Priest Who Angrily Banned Igbo Songs In Church.
Earlier we brought you a report of Rev. Fr. James Anelu, the Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-Owa Gberigbe in Ikorodu who has banned Igbo songs and choruses in his Church.
The Priest who angrily stopped a soul lifting chorus during the second collection said the Igbos cannot keep dominating other people even in his Church and has sighted the case of his Benin Diocese where Igbos dominate to the point of becoming the Bishop in the person of Akubueze.
Reacting the this, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Alfred Adewale Martins has quickly issued an indefinite leave of absence to Rev. Fr. James Anelu, the Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-Owa Gberigbe in Ikorodu, pending when the investigations are completed.
In his statement, he condemned the “unsavoury remarks” as it “does not represent the Catholics Church position on common brotherhood of peoples of all tribes and religion.”
He is expected to commence his indefinite leave of absence today, Tuesday, 08 February, 2023.
