There were heavy gunshots in Ifite area of Awka, Anambra State as gunmen believed to be cultists attacks the vigilante men of the area this evening.
The gunmen believed to be cultists were in a gun battle with the vigilante men, a gun battle which lasted for hours.
According to reports, this was a retaliation attack.
Recall that sometime in March, we brought you a report of a gun battle between some alleged cultists and vigilante group in Ifite. It is alleged that the cultists has returned for a reprisal attack to avenge their late brothers.
This evening, they had attacked the vigilante men and burnt down their vehicle.
About 3 vigilante men have also been alleged to have died in the gun battle.

Residents within Ifite are advised to stay safe while commuters should avoid the area as the tension within the area is still very high.
