CORPSE GOES MISSING FROM A MORTUARY IN JOS PLATEAU 

On Wednesday, the corpse of one Mr. David Atimbi Adi, a native of Nyakala Igbak, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, ‘goes missing’ from Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BUTH) mortuary.

Family members of the deceased, arrived the hospital to collect his body for burial, and it was nowhere to be found, they locked the gates of the hospital not allowing access in, demanding the management of the hospital to produce the missing corpse.

The corpse was deposited at the hospital on Thursday last week and to be buried on Wednesday (yesterday), the family on getting to the mortuary at 8am to collect the body, were amazed as it was nowhere to be found.

Brother of the deceased, Mr Paul Atimbi, said they had gone to BUTH mortuary where they deposited the corpse only to discover that it was not in the mortuary anymore.

While speaking to Newsman he said, after mounting pressure on the hospital’s management it was thereafter discovered that the mortuary attendant had mistakenly released the corpse to a different family who had conveyed the body since Monday for burial in another Village of Bassa LGC called Mista Ali.

Much later, the hospital’s management locate the body from where it was buried by the other family, dug-it-out and too it back to the hospital, it was then identified to be the real corpse of David and was handed over to the family to proceed.

The Chief Medical Director of BUTH, Prof. Stephen Anzaku when contacted by Newsman, explained the problem to be as a result of mislabelling two corpses by the morticians on duty wen it arrived.
