Dino Melaye Gets New Appointment

Hush Gist February 22, 2022

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has been appointed as the Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT), All Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) support groups.

Announcing his appointment on Thursday via his verified social media handles, Melaye wrote: “Appointment as chairman board of Trustees All pdp support groups. Thank you.”

In 2015, Melaye defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) but returned to the PDP in the buildup to 2019 elections after months of political struggle with Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello. He was the Chairman Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. And briefly the Senate Committee Chairman on Aviation in Nigeria.

Melaye contested for the Kogi State gubernatorial election which was held on 16 November 2019. On 3 September 2019, He lost his gubernatorial ambition in the primary election where he came third, with a total of 70 votes behind Engr. Musa Wada who won with 748 votes.

Come 2023, the controversial politician is hoping to take over from Governor Bello. Some of his loyalists have started canvassing support on his behalf, with some already unveiling fliers.

According to reports, Melaye is also putting structures in place and has signified his interest to the elders of his party. Close door meetings and discussions with political bigwigs in Kogi have been taking place.
