
D’Tigers, Nigeria’s Basketball Team Honours late Nigerian Singer, Sound Sultan
To pay their respects and Honor the Nigerian Music Legend, Sound Sultan, the Nigerian Men Basketball Team (D’Tigers), wore white t-shirts with the late singer’s image and name printed on them
In addition, the musician was honoured with a moment of silence within the arena before their pre- Olympic Match against Australia.
Earlier in a post, the Nigeria Basketball made a post on Instagram describing Sound Sultan as a family member of the team.
“We lost a member of our family this week. D’Tigers will honour the great Sound Sultan with these warmup shirts tonight. RIP. Your legacy will live forever,” the NigeriaBasketball team said in the post on Instagram.
According to information gathered by hush gist, Sound Sultan who died on Sunday July 11 (at the age of 44) after a battle with lung cancer, was a basketball enthusiast during his lifetime. Coincidentally, the Music Legend, Sound Sultan died on the same day the national basketball team defeated the United States in an exhibition game ahead of Tokyo Olympics, a victory that was dedicated to Sound Sultan.
He was buried in New Jersey, U.S. on Sunday (the same day he died) according to Muslim rites amidst tears and tributes.
