Space entrepreneur and multi billionaire, Elon Musk doesn’t believe in conventional schooling for his 5 boys, so he started his own “little school” called AD ASTRA-meaning “to the stars” for them to cater for their specific needs and talents.The school currently has 14 kids at the moment and plans to admit 6 more in September. The school module focuses on creating problem solving skills and not focusing on the tools alone.
Now, you know you are a very rich man wey sabi something when you have opened a “little school” just for your kids only🤣. Do you blame him? Our modern educational system appears to be creating more “followers” instead of “leaders”, more “employees”, instead of “employers” killing creativity, innovation and inventions because here, you are always taught “what” to think, instead of “how” to think and in the process setting more people up for failure in real life, most times, succeeding in life does not require going to school sef. Some of the best education is learned in the streets of life and in books, schooling may not set anybody up for success in the long run, acquiring skill based knowledge usually does the magic.
For me, going to school is still very important and matter greatly, but the type of “education”(skill based knowledge?) acquired is what makes the difference,you may go to school and still end up an illiterate and a failure in life. Another thing,a certificate does not make you “educated”,its also about being found worthy in “character” and “learning “but,what type of learning?. At the moment,with unemployment inspired frustrations on the rise,more and more people are beginning to realize that “going to school” is no longer a golden or silver bullet that solves all problems,some are even regrettably wondering aloud whether the time wasted in school was worth it and if such time/period should have been deployed learning a skill/trade or some other endeavors and skills that the world needs.some are also even being employed by their friends and former classmates who dropped out of school earlier for trading,this world no balance,at all.In case,schooling is not something for you,here are some other strategic options you might consider:
-starting a business,the main reason,for most people for going to school,is to graduate and get a good job,create a comfort zone,unfortunately,universities doesn’t teach how to make money,you learn that one on the streets,most universities will teach how to “manage” money and people or how to become a good and loyal employee,here’s the home truth,if you have a good business idea,run with it,might be difficult at the beginning,but,it could be worth it eventually.
-Begin investing,investing the money you should have used in schooling to acquire financial education about investments and investing,will assist in building a financial future for yourself.
-Work to learn, apprenticeship is one of the easiest way to learn and acquire skills on anything.If you get an opportunity to work in a place that provides a huge opportunity on experience,grab it,not minding how little the salary is or could be.Some companies pay peanuts but provides a huge opportunity for learning and building skills that will be beneficial to your life in future,biko grab it,forget about working in a place where the salary is huge but no “experience”,work for free and learn if you must.
-Engage in community service at your spare moments,always find time to give back to humanity,find time to do jobs for which you may not be paid.
At the moment,our universe requires different types of education:
Business education
Technical education
Financial education
If you must chose only one option out of the 3,chose financial education,you will need it the most in life.
