
EndSARS: Delta State Governor Considers The Recommendations of The Judicial Panel, Agrees To Pay Victims of Police Brutality The Sum of….
The Delta State Government have considered the Judicial Panel recommendations and accepted to pay victims of police brutality amounting to N102,450,000.00 (ONE HUNDRED AND TWO MILLION, FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND NAIRA).
Also, the State Government decided they can’t just pay victims and allow citizens to be brutalized. As such the state government have set up Human Rights Public Complaint Committee chaired by the Governor.
According to Harrison Gwamnishu, Founder, Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation, who was released from prison in 2015 after charged of a crime he never committed, and was recently appointment as member Youth Representative Delta State Human Rights Complaint Committee saddled with the responsibility of protecting the RIGHTS of citizens and ensuring that Police officers respect the rights of all Deltans during their operations , “It’s not going to be business as usual.”
“As the Youth Representative, I will ensure the rights of the youths are protected.”
