The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed the ongoing investigation of the delay in the completion and inauguration of the Okpeden Road Project in Abua-Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to a statement issued by the commission and made available to the public, the Head of the Public Affairs Department of the EFCC, Port Harcourt Zonal Command, DEBORAH EKISOWEI has confirmed the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the correspondent of the commission reports  that the anti-graft body has sent an invitation to the contractors, Monier Construction Company, MCC; the representatives of Okpeden community; and the Abua-Odual Kupe Foundation.

The invited groups are billed to meet at the Commissions Zonal Office in Port Harcourt on the 10th of May 2022.

In the meantime, the Executive Director of Abua Odual Kupe Foundation, KIIKPOYE MARK, disclosed that the abandoned road affected at least seven communities which approached the NGO to seek redress.

KIIKPOYE also said the community wants the Rivers State Government to order MCC to return to site and complete the road before Governor NYESOM WIKE leaves office.
