
INEC MEETS WITH POLITICAL PARTIES & THEIR CANDIDATES IN ANAMBRA
Ahead of the Nov 6th Anambra gubernatorial election expected to hold three days from now, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today Wednesday Nov 3rd, met with all the political parties and their candidates at Dr Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner representing Anambra State, Dr Ukochukwu Oji promised that INEC will provide a level playing ground for all political parties participating in the forthcoming election.
The Supervising National Commissioner of INEC, Barr. Festus Okoye assured stakeholders of their resolve to conduct a free, fair, credible and peaceful election amidst agitation from pressure groups; IPOB, ESN etc that pose a threat to the exercise.
The INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu revealed that sensitive materials are already present at CBN, Awka. He said Anambra will make history on Nov 6th as the first to use the Biometric Voters Accreditation Device which will protect against identity theft.
“Any voter without a genuine PVC, who fails accreditation shall not be allowed to vote. INEC has sufficient technical staffs that would respond to any glitches on election day. INEC is equipped and fully ready! With the deployment of over 35,000 armed personnel, voters are rest assured of security from any form of violence or harassments.”
Chairmen of all political parties including the governorship candidate of APGA, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo of PDP, Sen Andy Uba MHR of APC and other candidates were also present at the auspicious occasion.
