One herder, Ibrahim Isa, on Tuesday evening, was shot dead, by yet-to-be-identified gunmen around Yelwan Misterbow community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Two others were also injured in the attack.
Yelwan Misterbow is a community bordering Yelwan Zagam, where about 37 people were killed during a night attack in August.
The father of the deceased, Sa’idu Isa, who confirmed the development to Benue/Plateau Trust in Jos narrated that the victims were on their way back to Yelwan Misterbow, on a motorcycle, when suddenly, gunmen opened fire, killing one of them.
“The other two persons, who were on the same motorcycle with the deceased, were seriously injured and are receiving treatment. Soon after the incident, the police evacuated the corpse to the Laranto Police Divisional Headquarters for investigation,” he added.
The father said the corpse had been handed to them on Wednesday morning for burial. He called on the security agencies to be proactive to avert a further occurrence of such incident.
The spokesman of the state police command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, didn’t respond to the SMS sent to him about the incident at the time of filing this report.
