A petition by bestselling author, Reno Omokri, on the change.org platform has received 5000 signatures in one hour.
Reno in his Petition had requested the International Criminal Court to look into the Lekki Massacre and possibly jail President Mohammed Buhari, President and Commander in Chief, over the Lekki Tollgate incident.
The petition filed on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, is directed at the International Criminal Court and comes after Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry on EndSARS indicted the Buhari administration in its report.
Recall that after the incident at Lekki Tollgate gate last year during the EndSARS protest in which a couple of youths were killed and many insured, the Lagos State Government had set up an Independent Judicial Panel to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Few days ago, the panel had come up with their finding which indicted the Federal Government and the military. Infact, the panel described the killing as a massacre.
It is following this massacre that Reno had requested the International Criminal Court to look into the matter.
At 5,000 signatures, the petition is the first petition of Nigerian origin to hit that number in an hour.
