Valentine Ozigbo And Efforts To Unite Aggrieved Aspirants/ Party Faithfuls
History smiled on Valentine Chineto Ozigbo as he emerged victorious in the recently concluded Primaries of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Amidst doubts, Val Ozigbo was able to defeat top contenders like Dr Obiora Okonkwo, Sen Uche Ekwunife, Hon Chris Azubuogu, among others to emerge as the Party’s Candidate for the November 6th 2021 Anambra Governorship Election.
To political analysts Mr Ozigbo’s victory is not a surprise, it is a product of good political strategies and negotiations. But to the laymen who had not known the name Valentine Ozigbo for long, Mr Ozigbo’s victory is one of the miracles of 2021. His supporters have already nicknamed him a “Divine Project.”
However one important action of Mr Valentine Ozigbo after his victory at the PDP primary election held at Awka was his reaching out to all his opponents. Mr Val Ozigbo had within days after the primary election visited all the aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who participated in the primary election. Not done with their aspirants, Mr Ozigbo also extended a hand of fellowship to their supporters and campaign organisations. Aside the aspirants Mr Ozigbo visited leaders of the party within and outside Anambra State, including PDP 2019 Vice Presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi, BOT member Chief Chris Ubah, Sen Ben Obi, former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, PDP Governors forum to mention a few.
The importance of these visits underline his magnanimity in victory. A testimony of the team spirit needed to have an all around development. Also is the fact that extending hands of fellowship to his party men who lost to him at the primaries he could foreclose their anger and negative energy. He could win them over to remain in the party and support their to victory.
In the words of the PDP Anambra 2021 Governorship Candidate “If you hear anyone is leaving the PDP, it is not because of lack of attention. I have reached out to each aspirant and their teams “. With this single action political analyst Mr Ozigbo has paid the price for peace in PDP Anambra State. Those who decamp from party can only be over bearing and self centred.
